My son lives with the disease of alcoholism and addiction. I know that this is a lifetime disease that needs treatment like any other medical condition. New Life House has given him a steady path. He is finding coping skills for life struggles in a community that is always there to support and give him an opportunity for a healthy lifestyle. It is especially important because he has become a proud new father.
I found that I have been profoundly affected by my son’s disease and that I, too, need a program to guide me and, surprisingly, keep the focus on myself. I discovered that addiction and alcoholism is a family disease. I had to learn to let go and let the God of my understanding come first. As always, it’s one day at a time. Progress, not perfection.
