A Mother’s Incredible Story of Hope and Her Son’s Recovery
Before CJ got miraculously swept into the folds of New Life House, it was a swift and steep descent into addiction. His smoking weed became more and more troublesome through high school. After going away to college, he continued to make bad decisions. One after another. Soon, smoking marijuana was not a big enough distraction. He found a new mind eraser; Xanax. “in the USA, it is the most addictive benzodiazepine medication on the market today.”
Of course, no high school kid is taking prescribed dosages. Bar by bar it sucks your troubles away until you are no more. I seriously had never heard of this drug before. But what followed, no parents can or could imagine.
CJ failed in school, and his personal relationships, and in life. By the time, I finally realized he was going to “accidentally” kill himself…. I woke up to reality. Some of my friends kept trying to help me, “call Will who suggested the New Life House” or ” my son is in LA at a great treatment center….
So I did. It was James who got him in and David who took him into his protection and his guidance. Mad and scared, I was consoled by young men who had six months in the house. New Life House was amazing; the surrender, the relief, and hope for the first time in ages.
New Life House is an intense, concentrated, concise group of people and programs, who know addiction, it affects, and how it diverts the lives of so many young people.
I’ve seen not just my son, but so many young men arrive at New Life House and try to persist as addicts, only to realize they cannot fool the highly-educated staff or themselves any longer. Through participation, love, guidance and a whole lot of tough/love my son and much more find out who they were, who they are, and who they were meant to be. He graduated last Thanksgiving, moved out on Valentine’s Day, and is living his life as the bright, conscientious young man that he truly is.
Thank you God, and thank you New Life House.
